Reading Ridley...

Reading 'The Pocket Essential' of Ridley Scott. Fascinating stuff, summarises really well the reasons why he chose certain scripts and how they evolved or, in fact, did not evolve. Inspiring to note that he had to wade through a great deal of s**t too... In the process of trying to direct 'normal' he said: "I've discovered that I shouldn't try to be conventional. Not many people can do great oddball stuff." I'd add that "not many people are free enough to do great oddball stuff..." Read an article by Clive James on the state of a writer's desk. Comforting to note that I'm not the only one who writes in an environment resembling a war zone. I'm always suspicious of very tidy desks. Aren't psychopaths supposed to be hot on that...?
